Pole Barn Garage Plans
This one is a simple article, covering some basics of post frame garage plans. Below we've included some of our own plans, as well as garage builds we've designed and constructed for clients. Scroll away and find some inspiration, building renderings with links to the plans/designs, and maybe even an idea for your own custom garage build!

30x40 Garage Building Plans
We'll start with the ever popular 30x40 pole barn/garage plans (or 1200 square feet plans.) This size is popular because it can store several vehicles, while still leaving space for storage/shop area, and it fits on a lot of lot sizes. It's roomy, without being too big for most people. It may be our most often requested size of build. The orientation and design layout you choose does impact how the space can be used for your own use-case. Here are a couple of the 30x40 building orientations we see most often:
The one-garage-door 30x40 style. Popular for garages that won't have as many vehicles coming and going regularly; really popular when the main focus of the build is shop and/or storage space or entertainment and hosting space.

Two-garage-door 30x40 style buildings. More often used for vehicles that regularly come and go, but you also want space for shop and storage area. Often features two man doors (front and back, or front and side), as well as two garage doors.

24x24 Garage Building Plans
We don't want to neglect mentioning a 24x24 garage plan option! This is a great size for a lot that is too small too accommodate a larger build and if you only need limited space for storage or for parking a couple vehicles.

30x60 Garage Building Plans
Another popular design and size of garage build we see is the 30x60. This is, of course, larger than the 30x40, so allows you more room to spread out, more room for things that need storing, a larger space for vehicle collections, hobby barn type builds, and so on.
30x60 pre-designed garage plans (1800 square feet building plans)

This beautiful 30x60 garage pictured above is primarily used as a storage area and workshop. It features two garage doors (one on the front and one on the side of the build), and it featured some custom upgrades required by the county in Illinois where we built it. This was a custom garage plan we did for this client, and really most of our builds are custom designs, because we know everyone has unique needs for their buildings to best fit their personal needs.

This 30x60 garage/outbuilding plan (pictured above) we designed has three garage doors, a shop area that is divided off from the vehicle storage area with a dividing wall on the interior, and a corner-wrap porch for some summer porch sitting vibes (a Midwest sunset view, anyone?)
40x60 Garage Building Plans
40x60 garage building plans (or 2400 square feet) - we're really getting roomy now for personal garage and shop space.

40x60s can go a couple directions. Some people partition them into different areas, or even have a small area for living quarters worked into the design. Others like it wide-open in their floor plans for this size build.

This 40x60 tractor garage barn has ample room for the mid-size farm vehicles it stores, but also has room for recreational vehicles ATVs, golf carts, and so on. It still has room for that shop/work space that we love in a garage, and this one features a side porch area for the family to enjoy an outdoor lunch between work or play.

This utility barn (exterior and interior pictured above), shows you the kind of space you have to work with on the interior with a 40x60. Depending on your building design height, you can work in a loft area or overhead storage too, or even a small apartment.
Below is a 40x60 detached garage plan we designed and built (see second picture for the completed build).
