Job Title: Fleet Manager/Mechanic

Job Summary
Join a premier post-frame contractor in LaPorte, Indiana. The Fleet Manager/Mechanic role oversees, maintains, and transports our fleet of construction equipment, company vehicles, and trailers. This role blends mechanical expertise with fleet coordination, ensuring all assets are operational and available to support our post-frame construction projects with minimal delays. The ideal candidate is a proactive, skilled mechanic committed to uptime and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Fleet Maintenance & Repair: Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on construction equipment (e.g., skid steers, lifts), company vehicles (e.g., trucks), and trailers, aiming for 95%+ uptime as tracked in company logs. Complete repairs within 48 hours when parts are available.
- Equipment Transport: Safely transport equipment, vehicles, and trailers to and from job sites as required, ensuring timely delivery to support project schedules.
- Scheduled Maintenance: Execute maintenance per company schedules without disrupting active job progress, reducing equipment-related delays.
- Fleet Coordination: Work with crew leads and management to schedule equipment use, monitor availability, and respond promptly to inquiries about equipment status.
- Training: Provide basic maintenance training (e.g., greasing, fluid checks) to crew leads and site supervisors to enhance equipment care.
- Inventory & Records: Manage parts and tool inventory for fleet upkeep, maintaining detailed logs of maintenance, repairs, and equipment status.
- Safety & Compliance: Conduct regular inspections to ensure fleet meets safety and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3-5 years in automotive or heavy equipment repair, with fleet management or coordination experience a plus.
- Skills: Expertise in diesel/gas engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems; proficiency with diagnostic tools; ability to tow and transport equipment safely.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in shop or outdoor settings, and handle physically demanding tasks.

- Quality Assurance: Inspect framing, siding, and roofing work to ensure compliance with Milmar’s standards, client specifications, and local building codes.
